Decking the Halls
4 December 2014
It’s that time of year – Christmas has arrived at the castle! This week our beautiful Noble Fir Christmas Tree was delivered to our Great Hall. With its superb late-medieval ceiling and vibrant red walls, our tree looks very fitting in its new home.
At 17 foot, decorating this tree was never going to be easy – here’s how we managed it:
We have lots of Christmas festivities planned at the castle. We’ll have visiting carol singers, the Charles Dickens inspired Tales and Traditions of a Victorian Christmas and from Christmas Eve until New Year’s Eve we’ll be welcoming Mary, Queen of Scots to hear about her Christmas.
Meanwhile, in the café there’s sure to be some seasonal treats or you could opt for something more indulgent with our selection of Christmas Lunches.
And as always, we’re closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening to our normal hours on 27 December. We’re also open New Year’s Day from 11am to 5pm giving you the chance to get hands on with our 16th century schiltron training!
We do hope to see you soon!
